Bread and Boarders

Bread and Boarders

CRAZY FUN.

That would be the most succinct way to sum up my past week. You see, I travelled with three girlfriends to Annecy last weekend, where they were holding the IF3, which is an international ski and snowboard film festival. We had all the adventures that you always dream of having while abroad. The town is like a tiny jewel situated in the Alps next to one of the most gorgeous lakes, in fact one of the cute french men we met told me this fun fact: the famous lover’s bridge in Annecy is actually one of the desktop pictures for the original windows…who knew.

We began the day by browsing through the antiques market that sprawled through the cobble stones of old Annecy. Then we found out that a MOF had a pastry shop located nearby, so we stopped in for a few sweets and a coffee and you will not even believe this, but we GOT TO MEET HIM AND HE IS THE GUY FROM THE MOVIE KINGS OF PASTRY. Stop. I know. I was dying I was so excited. I was in a serious cloud nine haze of happiness.

Later we went to this crazy party, that I swear was 90% men 10% female, and met a whole bunch of crazy and interesting french boys and danced the night away. Even walking home was eventful as we were assaulted not only by multiple nude and heavily tattooed streakers but also kiss-crazy drunks.

This week we focused on breads, which is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE as you might know. Our chef Damien is such an awesome guy and the way he approaches bread is very relaxed. We have been producing such a diverse range of breads and I am confident that I have collected some really, dangerously, amazing recipes for my book. Below are just a few examples of what we have been producing.

In the end it is a surprise and pleasure that I have not yet passed out from the number of butter filled pastries I seem to inhale in an unreasonable quantity. I can’t tell you all how much fun this week has been, and it just makes me all that more excited to get out of school and start working for real. Next week is chocolates, my mortal enemy.
